La ville de Saint Paul Trois Châteaux, ville culturelle en Drôme Provençale, organise le 2e Concours International de Piano de Saint Paul Trois Châteaux – Drôme Sud Provence, du lundi 22 avril 2024 au samedi 27 avril 2024, afin de promouvoir la culture musicale, encourager et récompenser l’étude du piano, et mettre en avant de talentueux pianistes.

The town Saint Paul Trois Châteaux, a cultural centre situated in the Provence part of Southern Drôme, is organizing its Second international piano competition from Monday 22nd April to Saturday 27th April 2024, to promote musical culture, encourage and reward pianists and single out the most talented among them.

Les catégories du concours/The categories of competition

Il y a quatre catégories :
• MASTERS (maximum 35 ans)
• CHALLENGERS (moins de 20 ans)
• TEENAGERS (moins de 15 ans)
• JUNIORS (moins de 12 ans)

There are four categories:
• MASTERS (maximum 35 years old)
• CHALLENGERS (less than 20 years old)
• TEENAGERS (less than 15 years old)
• JUNIORS (less than 12 years old)

Les prix du concours/Prizes of competition

MASTERS :

  • Premier Prix : 4000 € plus deux récitals rémunérés : en ouverture du Concours international de piano 2025 et dans la saison de concerts de l’Auditorium de Prayssas (Lot-et-Garonne).
  • Deuxième prix : 2500 €
  • Troisième prix : 1500 €
  • Prix du public : 500 €

Le premier prix de la catégorie Masters est indivisible, les autres prix peuvent être attribués ex-aequo en divisant la récompense.
Les candidats non finalistes de la catégorie Masters recevront un diplôme attestant de leur parcours lors du concours.

CHALLENGERS (moins de 20 ans) :
• Premier prix : 700 € + participation au concert de Gala du concours *
• Mentions : Très Bien, Bien, Assez Bien, pour les candidats n’ayant pas obtenu le 1er prix.

TEENAGERS (moins de 15 ans) :
• Premier Prix : 200 € + participation au concert de Gala du concours
• Mentions : Très Bien, Bien, Assez Bien, pour les candidats n’ayant pas obtenu le 1er prix.

JUNIORS (moins de 12 ans) :
• Premier Prix : 100 € + participation au concert de Gala du concours *
• Mentions : Très Bien, Bien, Assez Bien, pour les candidats n’ayant pas obtenu le Prix

Les Premiers Prix des catégories Challengers, Teenagers et Juniors ne peuvent pas être attribués ex-aequo.
La remise de tous les Prix aura lieu officiellement lors du concert de Gala *

MASTERS :

• First Prize: € 4000 + two remunerated recitals (opening concert of the Piano competition 2025 and in the concerts season of the Auditorium of Prayssas, Lot-et-Garonne).
• Second Prize: € 2500
• Third Prize: € 1500
• Audience Prize : € 500

The first Prize in the Masters category is indivisible, the other Prizes can be awarded ex-aequo by dividing the reward.
Non finalists in the Masters category will be issued with a diploma attesting to their progress in the competition.

CHALLENGERS (less than 20 years old)
• First Prize: € 700 + participation in the gala concert 2024 *
• Grade : Very good, Good, Quite good, for the applicants who have not won the First Prize.

TEENAGERS (less than 15 years old) :
• First Prize: € 200 + participation in the gala concert 2024 *
• Grade : Very good, Good, Quite good, for the applicants who have not won the First Prize

JUNIORS (less than 12 years old) :
• First Prize: 100€ + participation in the gala concert 2024 *
• Grade : Very good, Good, Quite good, for the applicants who have not won the First Prize

The First Prizes of CHALLENGERS, TEENAGERS and JUNIORS categories cannot be awarded ex-aequo.
The delivery of all Prizes will officially take place during the Gala concert.

Le programme/The programme

Les candidats devront jouer l’intégralité de leur programme de mémoire. De préférence, les reprises ne seront pas jouées.

Toutefois, en fonction de l’unité musicale et de la structure des œuvres, les candidats auront libre choix de jouer ou pas les reprises.

Le programme ne doit cependant pas dépasser le temps imparti.

Le jury se réserve le droit d’interrompre un candidat s’il le juge nécessaire et prendra en compte le contenu des programmes choisi par le candidat.

Les candidats doivent jouer les programmes qu’ils se sont engagés à jouer.

Les concurrents doivent préparer un exemplaire des partitions interprétées, afin de les présenter au jury s’il le demande.
Pour la catégorie Masters, les concurrents ne peuvent pas rejouer en demi-finale des pièces déjà interprétées lors du tour précédent.

Catégorie MASTERS :
• Premier tour : un programme libre, maximum 20 minutes
• Demi-Finale : un programme libre, maximum 50 minutes
• Finale avec orchestre : un Concerto au choix, parmi les concertos suivants :
– Mozart : Concerto n°21 en Do Majeur K 467
– Beethoven : Concerto n°3 en ut mineur op.37
– Schumann : Concerto en la mineur op.54
– Grieg : Concerto en la mineur op.16
– Chopin : Concerto n°1 en mi mineur op.11
– Saint-Saëns : Concerto « l’Egyptien » n°5 en Fa Majeur op.103

Catégorie CHALLENGERS :
• Un programme libre, maximum 20 minutes

Catégorie TEENAGERS :
• Un programme libre, maximum 15 minutes

Catégorie JUNIORS :
• Un programme libre, maximum 7 minutes

The candidates will perform their whole programme from memory. Whenever possible, repeat signs will be ignored.

However, for reasons of musical unity and structure of the works performed, the candidates will make the final decision whether or not to play the repeats, within the allotted time.

The jury reserves the right to interrupt a candidate if they deem it necessary to do so and he will take account of the pieces chosen by the candidates.

The candidates will not make any changes to their choice of pieces as stated in their entry form.

The candidates must have a copy of the scores they will play, and present them to the jury if required.

In the MASTERS category, the candidates must not play in semi-final pieces that have already been performed in previous round.

MASTERS Category
• First round : free programme, maximum 20 minutes
• Semi final : free programme, maximum 50 minutes
• Finale with orchestra accompaniment : a concerto selected from the following
– Mozart : Concerto n.21 in C Major K 467
– Beethoven : Concerto n.3 in C minor op.37
– Schumann : Concerto in A minor op.54
– Grieg : Concerto en A minor op.16
– Chopin : Concerto n.1 in E minor op.11
– Saint-Saëns : Concerto « l’Egyptien » n.5 in F Major op.103

CHALLENGERS Category
• Free programme, maximum 20 minutes

TEENAGERS Category
• Free programme, maximum 15 minutes

JUNIORS Category
• Free programme maximum 7 minutes
